I’m happy to share my thoughts. I read all your posts and appreciate plus enjoy the content.
As a paid subscriber I appreciate the price adjustments. I enjoy your posts and perspective, a slice of life in a writer’s world. It’s not easy creating interesting content and I have felt it was worth the money to support your efforts. Example - I’ve always wanted to visit PEI and you gave me a glimpse of what I could see and that it would suit my introverted person. A relaxing scene as a writing retreat. Painters seek the same.
Secondly, I think your books are too inexpensive when purchased - so I thought this would help as a buffer to support your efforts and encourage more writing.

Hi. I was subscribed at $7 a month, which was just deducted from my account. I decided to change to $5 a month, and even though I just paid my monthly amount, $5 was deducted from my account! I expected this to take effect next month not be a double payment.
Hi Susan! If you go to Settings and Help, you can search Subscriptions and there is a tab with various answers. You can also contact them and ask for a refund (I believe) for the over charge. Thank you for your patience with the process! Here is a place to start!
I’ve enjoyed reading Passages: Travel very much! John & l have been Nomads since April, 2016.
We are living on a fixed income so l hope to be able to continue reading a weekly Passages. I never thought that we would not have a permanent house but we like traveling so we have chosen the Nomadic life. We have owned 17 houses in the US throughout our 51 years of marriage & John doesn’t want to own another home. I hope this will bring us to a happy ending?
Time will tell. So this is my reason l’m so happy l can continue reading Passages. BTW, John was born & raised in Astoria, OR as was his Father.
That is wonderful and you are true adventurers! I respect your choice about being nomads. We tried it out and, though I don’t think for us there will be a “forever home” we are also not suited to live on the road permanently. We like a homebase!
Toby, I think you put a lot of thought into this and have come up with a brilliant, balanced solution! Sometimes we all need a little nudge or reminder to support true artistic talent. Things can be so cheap at Walmart or off the internet- mass produced in sweat shops. Quality items are made with love, by artists and I really appreciate the artistic way you’ve found to string words together!
In my world of busyness, I don't get to read enough but I am absolutely grateful for what I do. I love the Toby blurbs that I can sneak in once (never enough) in a while. Thank you, Mahalo, Toby.
I just wrote a whole screed and lost it! I hate it when that happens. Anyway, I appreciate your writings, I have purchased many and read many on KU. But my favorites are when your personality shows through, as in these Passages and in Freckled. So here I am.
Thank you for the gentle nudge to become a paid subscriber! You right such wonderful books and you still have time to be engaged with your readers! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your books during our last trip to Hawaii!
I always enjoy your essays! As a fellow writer and Substacker, I also appreciate your transparency about the business side of your process. This sounds like a great strategy and I'm excited to watch your already great newsletter find a bigger audience!
Thanks, Jason. I sure hope it achieves what I hope it will. I've had to move through a lot of uncomfortable feelings to figure out this post and a way to proceed. Figuring out our way forward is not easy, though I'm sure it looks that way from the outside! Mahalo for your support and I really get a LOT out of your newsletter, too.

I’m sorry that happened! A lot of this is automated by the platform. I will see if customer service can help!
Thank you!
