We were nearby recently (Su-meg state park) and I had one of my favorite days ever, just wandering the beach and picking up some PNR's. Northern CA beaches can be hard to get to in an RV but worth it. Love your descriptions.
This took me back to rock collecting with my son in the Pacific Northwest. We found garnets in the St Joe at Emerald Creek garnet area, the home shores of Lake Pend Oreille, where I grew up and then raised my kids, searching for Arrowheads in Laclede in the river and a bit further along at Priest River and priest lake where more arrowheads were found, along with huckleberries.
I’m not sure those guys on the beach were correct, as the PNRs you held in your hand look just like agates I found on the north shore of Long Island. Either way, the “agate” and your PNRs are all beautiful. When I lived in Florida, my favorite pastime was beachcombing for shells, sea glass, and sharks’ teeth!
My childhood, like yours, was spent on hours long scouting the shore and its treasures. Sea glass has long been one treasure searched for, but the elusive coffee bean shell was the sought after gem of the search. When I learned that the abundant mussels that covered the rocks on my beach could have seed pearls within them, this girl went searching for her own bounty. Of course, I would feed the fish and anemones the mussel flesh because I was raised to not take without a use. Your shoreline searches resonate deeply with me.
I like the retrospective of places I used to visit with my family many years ago! The PNR and LBJs are right up there with BTRs. Kinds of living stuff, plants, etc that are by the roada!
We love seeing spots like this! We’ve been tidying our rig and our rhythm for years… now we're starting to share the setups, gear, and travel stories over at TTRV.
PNR, I like that. Like when I watch birds. Most are LBJs. Little brown jobs.

It's so special there!
I love that you can beach comb. I would love that.
Makes me feel like I am ther with you.

Thank you for sharing your finds with us!
And thank you! For sharing your experience too!
We're headed that way tomorrow! In search of agates, of course, and anything else that looks interesting.
Wooohoooo! Good luck!

I definitely want to look for all those some day!
Been there (back in the ‘70s) and know the feeling. Thanks for the memories. Yes, PNR, they’re worth the efforts.
🥰👍🏻

One of those stones in your hand looks like a Petoskey stone from Michigan, but I don't understand how it could be.
