After an enjoyable day off from driving spent relaxing at Angel Lake, Nevada, I woke with a sense of urgency. I’d spent most of yesterday lying on the shore of the sandy beach, or floating on the lake with Koa while reading a hilarious romance novel—my idea of the best vacation. But this was a travel day, and even though we have our packing and unpacking somewhat wired, there’s always a little different feel in the air when we need to get on the road.
I stepped outside the trailer with Koa on his leash for our morning walk, and the first thing I noticed was that the large, open-sided sun shelter Mike had erected, was gone.
Maybe Mike had taken it down already, but that wasn’t his usual pattern. His morning habit was to rise before me, make coffee, and go out somewhere with his fishing pole.
Koa nosed around doing his business while I scouted for our sun tent—and eventually discovered that it had somehow flown into the nearby dwarf birc…
